Privacy Policy

EatLift ("we", "our", or "the app") is a fitness and nutrition tracking application. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account email address and user ID. We do not receive or store your Google password.

Health & Fitness Data: Data you voluntarily enter into the app, including:

• Meal logs and nutrition information
• Workout logs and exercise data
• Body weight entries
• Body measurement entries
• Activity logs, step counts, GPS-tracked activity sessions, saved route points, and estimated active calories
• Sleep tracking entries
• Fitness goals, weight goal plans, profile inputs, and preferences

Photos & Camera: Meal photos are sent for nutrition analysis and are not retained after processing. Optional physique progress photos are different: they are normalized to remove embedded metadata, encrypted by the application, and stored privately until you delete the photo, progress entry, or account.

Microphone & Audio: The app requests microphone access for voice-based meal logging and workout note dictation. Audio recordings are sent to our server for AI processing and are not stored permanently after processing.

Location Data: If you start an outdoor activity tracking session, the app records route points while that session is active. Location tracking is optional and user-started.

AI Interaction Data: When you use AI-powered features (meal analysis, voice logging, coaching), the content you submit is processed by Google's Gemini AI service to generate responses. Physique progress photos are sent for visual comparison only after you explicitly enable that optional setting; the app does not use them to estimate body fat or determine calorie and macro targets.

Subscription Data: If you subscribe, we store your Google Play purchase token and subscription status. Payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play; we never see your payment details.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the core app functionality (tracking meals, workouts, activity sessions, sleep, weight, body measurements, and optional private progress photos)
• To power AI features (meal analysis, coaching feedback, voice logging, and optional consented progress-photo comparison)
• To calculate personalized recommendations (TDEE, macro targets, goal paths, training volume)
• To manage your subscription status
• To send local notifications (e.g., workout rest timer countdowns). Notifications are generated on-device only and are never sent from our servers.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Google Sign-In: For authentication. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google Gemini AI: For processing meal photos, voice input, generating coaching feedback, and optional consented progress-photo comparisons. Content is sent to Google's servers for processing.
• Google Play Billing: For subscription payments. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• OpenFreeMap / OpenStreetMap data: For displaying optional activity route maps. Map tiles are loaded from the map provider when you view maps.
• Open Food Facts: For barcode scanning product lookups. No personal data is sent.
• USDA FoodData Central: For food nutrition database lookups. No personal data is sent. Source attribution: U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service. FoodData Central. fdc.nal.usda.gov. USDA does not endorse EatLift.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers hosted on Railway (cloud infrastructure). All data transmission is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Access to the database is restricted and protected by authentication.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete all your data at any time by using the "Delete Account" option in the app settings, or by visiting our account deletion page.

When you delete your account, all data is permanently and immediately removed from our servers. There is no recovery period.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data through the app (all your logs are visible in the app)
• Delete your data at any time via the Delete Account feature
• Stop using the service at any time by uninstalling the app

7. Children's Privacy

EatLift is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app.
